Prabhas, the well-known Indian film actor, has done it again with his latest movie, Salaar. The movie, which was released on December 22, has already made an impressive debut by earning Rs 95 crores nett domestic on its opening day in India. Salaar, helmed by Prashanth Neel, is expected to make over Rs 175 crore worldwide on the opening day. In fact, according to the film’s producer, Hombale Films, Salaar has made Rs 175 crore (early estimates) worldwide gross.
One of the most interesting aspects of Salaar’s release is that it was released in five languages– Hindi, Telugu, English, Tamil, and Kannada. This has contributed significantly to the film’s success, with the movie receiving an 88 percent occupancy in Telugu on its first day, as per industry tracker Sacnilk.
The movie has also performed exceedingly well in the USA and North America, claiming the second spot in the top 5 premiere gross for Indian movies, earning $2.60 million, just behind RRR with $3.46 million. Salaar has overtaken Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, which was the biggest opener of the year in India so far, making Rs 75 crore nett on its first day. This has marked a massive comeback for Prabhas, whose recent releases, including Adipurush and Radhe Shyam, did not perform as well as Salaar on the opening day.
This box office opening is not the best of his career for director Prashanth Neel, who previously directed the KGF films. The 2022 film KGF 2 opened with Rs 116 crore nett in India and went on to make over Rs 1000 crore worldwide. However, Salaar’s success is undeniable, and it has definitely set the stage for Part 2 of the movie, called Shouryaanga Parvam.
Salaar also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, and Jagapathi Babu in pivotal roles. The film was produced by Vijay Kiragandur and will be released in two parts: Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire and Shouryaanga Parvam as Part 2. We can’t wait to see what Part 2 has in store for us! Stay tuned to the Moviezupp page for further updates on the movie.
