Trailer
The renowned horror filmmaker and former anchor Ohmkar has created a new horror television series called Mansion 24. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Rao Ramesh, Satya Raj, Avika Gor, and other actors play the lead characters in the television series. Currently, it can be watched on Disney Plus Hotstar. Let’s see how this series is.
Story
Amrutha (Varalaxmi Sarathkumar) works as an investigative journalist. After working on an excavation, her father, Kaalidas (Satya Raj), an archaeologist, vanishes. Kaalidas is suspected of stealing various priceless artifacts by the police and archaeology departments. Kaalidas’ wife, Tulsi, suffers because of the traitor’s name he is given by the media. Amrutha makes the decision to solve her father’s disappearance’s mystery. She learns that Kaalidas had been to an old manor before going missing. Amrutha is warned not to visit the mansion by everyone who informs her that whoever visited there did not return. Amrutha decides to go to that mansion anyhow, taking a chance. What did she notice there? What has happened to her father? Did Amrutha seek answers to the puzzle? This is the plot of the series.
Plus Points
The series is a collection of a few short stories. Those of Nandu and Archana Jois from the KGF are interesting. Even though the stories weren’t brand-new, they were delivered in an interesting way. Good performances were given by Bindhu Madhavi, Nandu, and Archana Jois.
Mansion 24’s superb production design is even more stunning. Ashok Kumar, the art director, did a fantastic job and perfectly establishes the tone for a horror series. Beautiful visual appeal serves as a wonderful complement to the production design. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar performs okay in her performance. Abhinaya, Avika Gor, and Rajeev Kanakala performed admirably in their brief appearances.
Minus Points
The first three subplots don’t hold the audience’s attention or excite them. Although the storytelling style is comparable to Darna Mana Hai and Darna Zaroori Hai, the stories ultimately lack the punch. The plot with Avika Gor seems good on paper. However, the execution lets the story down because there are no frightful or disturbing events or moments.
In terms of the main characters, not much effort was put into the writing. Although Satya Raj, Rao Ramesh, Jaya Prakash, and Tulsi are excellent actors, the script falls short. The show suffers greatly from the poorly developed characters and a lack of emotional depth. One can guess the climax scene easily, and it was executed in a very pale manner.
The way the show concludes is bad. Mansion 24 is filled with many horror movie clichés and tropes. It would be preferable if the creators abandoned these clichés because they have become common.
Final Words
Mansion 24 Review: Disappointing And Poor Execution of The Story
Mansion 24 is an overall horror thriller that largely uses conventional horror elements. A few of the subplots are impressive, but the majority are forgettable. The actors don’t have a lot of room to express themselves, and the main plot is poorly constructed. The show’s key twist is predictably revealed, and it concludes in a conventional way. Mansion 24 primarily gains from its strong technical qualities, which include an excellent background score, beautiful images, and an impressive sound design. However, the overall experience is disappointing.
