Akshay Kumar’s Career: A Temporary Setback or a Comeback in the Making?
Akshay Kumar, once the king of Bollywood, is facing a rough patch with 11 consecutive flops and a whopping Rs 1000 crore loss. Unfortunately, his latest movie, Sarfira, joins this list of disappointments.
Known for his versatility, Akshay Kumar was a hit machine who ruled the box office for years. He began as the “Action King” with movies like Khiladi, Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi, and International Khiladi. He then shifted to comedy, giving us gems like Welcome, Hera Pheri, and Singh Is King. Later, he became a patriotic hero with blockbusters like Baby, Kesari, Gold, Airlift, and Rustom. If Akshay was in a film, it would be a hit.
The Recent Downturn
Lately, things haven’t been going as well. Despite his best efforts, his recent films have failed to impress. The list of 11 flops includes Bachchhan Paandey, Samrat Prithviraj, Raksha Bandhan, Cuttputlli, Ram Setu, An Action Hero, Selfiee, OMG 2, Mission Raniganj, and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. These flops have led to a huge Rs 1000 crore loss. For example, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan alone resulted in a Rs 250 crore loss, and Samrat Prithviraj lost Rs 150 crores. Made on a budget of Rs 80 crores, Sarfira has only managed to collect Rs 21.45 crores so far.
This isn’t the first time Akshay has faced challenges. Back in the 1990s, he had 16 consecutive flops and even moved to Canada, thinking his career was over. However, two of his unreleased films became unexpected hits, bringing him back to Bollywood with a bang.
The success of South Indian movies like Pushpa, KGF, and RRR has brought new competition, but Akshay Kumar has always been a fighter. His upcoming movie, Khel Khel Mein, co-starring Taapsee Pannu and Vaani Kapoor, might just be the hit he needs.
Akshay Kumar has faced tough times before and emerged stronger. There’s no doubt that he will bounce back again, proving why he is one of Bollywood’s most beloved stars. Let’s stay tuned and support him as he gears up for a grand comeback!
